Nelnet Student Loan Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action related to reports of a data security incident affecting Nelnet Servicing, LLC (“Nelnet”), a company involved with the administration and repayment of student loans and education financial services.
On July 21, 2022, Nelnet discovered that an unauthorized party had gained access to its network leading to the exposure of sensitive personal data for an estimated 2.5 million individuals connected with their student loan account information. The sensitive personal information compromised as result of this breach may include: names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and Social Security numbers. Notice was sent out on August 26, 2022 to all those Nelnet has identified as having their information compromised as result of this breach.
