Marquis Software Solutions Data Breach Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating potential class action claims against Marquis Software Solutions (“Marquis”), Norway Savings Bank (“Norway”), and CoVantage Credit Union (“CoVantage”) regarding a recent data security incident that may have impacted the personal information of 211,000 individuals.
Marquis is a software vendor that provides marketing and compliance solutions to banks and credit unions, including Norway and CoVantage. According to public reports and breach notifications, an unauthorized actor accessed Marquis’s network and acquired files containing personal data within its systems. Through accessing these files, the unauthorized actor may have also gained access to the sensitive personal information of Norway and CoVantage customers.
What Happened at Marquis?
On August 14, 2025, Marquis identified suspicious activity on its network. After investigating, Marquis discovered that an unauthorized third party accessed its network and acquired files containing personal data from its systems. On October 27, 2025, at the conclusion of its investigation, Marquis began notifying its affected clients, including Norway and CoVantage. On November 21, 2025, Norway started to notify its affected customers. On or around November 26, 2025, Marquis began to notify affected CoVantage customers.
What Information Was Compromised?
The compromised data may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Names
- Dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- Addresses
- Telephone numbers
- Financial account information
Why Is This Important?
The exposure of this highly sensitive information places affected individuals at a significantly increased risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and other related harms. The theft of Social Security numbers is particularly severe, as this data can be exploited by criminals for years to come.
