Managed Care Dental Insurance Data Breach  – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to news that Managed Care of North America (“MCNA”) experienced a data breach.  The Company reports to be one of the largest dental insurers in the country for government-sponsored plans that provide coverage to children and seniors. On May 26, 2023, MCNA posted a notice to its website detailing that it became aware of unauthorized activity on its computer system on March 6, 2023. This unauthorized user had access to its system between February 26, 2023-March 7, 2023.

As result of the breach, approximately 8.9 million individuals may have had their sensitive personal and/or medical related information compromised. The information accessed in this breach may include: names, social security numbers; driver’s license and/or government issued ID numbers; health insurance plan information; dental treatment information; and bills and insurance claims.
