Frontier Communications Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to a data breach incident involving Frontier Communications (“Frontier”), a Texas based telecommunications company who provides high-speed internet, cable TV, and phone services.
Specifically, on April 18, 2024, Frontier filed a Form 8-K with the SEC reporting that they detected that a third-party had gained unauthorized access to portions of its computer system on April 14, 2024. In response, the Company took measures to contain the incident resulting in shutting down certain parts of the system that caused temporary operation disruption to the internet, phone and cable services to some of their customers. Frontier believes that the third-party group is a cybercrime group who likely gained access to parts of their system where personally identifiable information was stored. The scope of information involved in this breach has yet to be determined, including an exact number of people affected by this breach.
