Court Grants Final Approval of $950,000 Settlement in Lawsuit Against Creation Entertainment, Inc. for Data Breach

On July 6, 2021, the Superior Court of the State of  California for Los Angeles County issued an order granting final approval to a class action settlement in a class action lawsuit against Creation Entertainment (“Creation”) brought on behalf of all consumers who made purchases with Creation, and whose credit/debit card information was potentially accessed and/or compromised from Creation’s systems by unauthorized users as part of a data breach from approximately February 1, 2018 through October 10, 2018 (“Security Incident”).

The settlement class is comprised of all persons who made purchases with Creation using their credit or debit card and who may have been potentially affected by the Security Incident. The proposed settlement will provide benefits for the Class including  one of two types of payments: (1) a Basic Settlement Payment of up to $200 regardless of whether any unauthorized charges or fraud were experienced on a credit/debit card used to make purchases from Creation, or (2) an Extraordinary Reimbursement Payment of up to $10,000 for anyone who experienced unauthorized charges on their credit or debit card that were denied or not reimbursed which are believed in good faith to be more likely than not caused by the Security Incident.
