Air Purifier HEPA Filter False Advertising  – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of purchasers of certain air purifiers that are falsely advertised and misrepresented as having HEPA grade filters.    These air filters do not meet the minimum standards set by the EPA for HEPA grade filters. The minimum requirements are the ability of the filter to remove 99.7% of particulate matter that is 0.3 microns in diameter.

Based on information provided through the EPA’s website, air purifier models that have filters that fail to meet HEPA guidelines include MedifyAir, Blueair, Aroeve, Shark, and potentially other manufacturers as well. Many consumers who purchase these air purifiers will often rely on the manufacturer’s representation of their air purifiers meeting HEPA standards that they do not actually meet. This can result in consumers with certain respiratory conditions, such as asthma and chronic bronchitis, spending more money on costly machines that do not effectively alleviate or prevent flare-ups of their symptoms.

If you purchased an air purifier advertising as having HEPA grade filters that do not meet EPA standards,  please fill-out the form provided below.
