Cubic Public Transit Fare Systems  – OMNY, Ventra, and Others- Overcharge and Billing Error Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating potential class action claims on behalf of riders who may have been overcharged while using public transportation fare systems operated by Cubic Transportation Systems.

Cubic Transportation Systems is a private vendor that provides contactless and card-based fare collection platforms for many major public transit agencies in the United States. Riders have reported recurring billing errors across several Cubic-managed systems, including:

  • Duplicate charges for a single ride
  • Phantom charges that appear hours or days after use
  • Incorrect transfer fares or failure to apply free transfers
  • Delayed or denied refunds for erroneous charges

These issues have been reported on transit fare systems such as:

  • OMNY (Metropolitan Transportation Authority – New York City)
  • Ventra (Chicago Transit Authority and Metra – Chicago, IL)
  • Breeze Card (MARTA – Atlanta, GA)
  • Clipper Card (Bay Area transit systems – San Francisco, CA)
  • ORCA (King County and regional transit – Seattle, WA area)
  • LA TAP (Los Angeles Metro – Los Angeles, CA)

Riders allege these systems may overcharge, fail to honor fare policies, or make it difficult to correct billing issues.

If you use one of these Cubic fare systems and believe you were overcharged or experienced billing errors, please complete the form below to share your experience.
