Magellan All LeadCare Blood Lead Testing Systems Healthcare Provider Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of hospitals, healthcare providers and doctors that paid for a blood lead testing system sold by Magellan Diagnostics Inc. (a subsidiary of Meridian Bioscience). The Food and Drug Administration issued a Safety Notice on May 17, 2017 “warning Americans that certain lead tests manufactured by Magellan Diagnostics may provide inaccurate results for some children and adults in the United States” and recommending that parents of young children, pregnant women and nursing mothers who have been tested for lead exposure with this device “consult a health care professional about whether they should be retested.” In or around May of 2017, Magellan issued a “Safety Communication to Customers of All LeadCare Blood Testing Systems” that instructed healthcare providers to stop testing venous blood samples with the product in light of the FDA’s Safety Notice.
CSK&D is investigating whether Magellan Diagnostics is reimbursing hospitals, healthcare providers and doctors for the full amount of money they paid for LeadCare Blood Testing Systems that can no longer be used. If this describes your situation, please contact the attorneys below.
