Class action alleges Lamar trailers were falsely labeled “Made in USA” despite being built from foreign components.

An amended complaint filed in federal court in Pennsylvania alleges that Lamar Trailers falsely advertised and represented that its trailers were “Made in USA” even though many of the trailer chassis and substantial other components were imported from Mexico, China, and India. Consumers reasonably expect that “Made in USA” advertising means that all significant parts and processing that go into the product are of U.S. origin and contain, at most, only negligible foreign content. American consumers value American-made products as a sign of quality and are willing to pay higher prices for them. Lamar Trailers is accused of luring consumers to purchase its products by representing that they were American-made when, in fact, Lamar was importing many of the critical components from foreign countries.

The lawsuit is an outgrowth of an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission, which earlier in 2026 forced Lamar to cease advertising that its products are made in the U.S.A. The plaintiffs are two Pennsylvania small businesses that purchased trailers in reliance on Lamar’s “Made in USA” promise and are represented by Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP, a nationally recognized law firm known for its commitment to advocating for consumers, investors, and shareholders through high-impact class-action litigation and complex legal matters.
