Gryphon Healthcare Data Breach  – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to a data breach incident involving Gryphon Healthcare, LLC (“Gryphon”), a company based in Texas that provides medical billing services.  The Company confirmed that 393,358 individuals had their information taken in a data breach incident according to a filing with the Maine Attorney General. 

What Happened at Gryphon?

On or around August 13, 2024, Gryphon discovered that an unauthorized user had gained access to Gryphon’s system. Gryphon retained a cybersecurity firm to conduct further investigation to confirm the scope of the breach. This cybersecurity firm concluded their investigation on September 3, 2024, and confirmed that personal information of approximately 393,358 individuals had been compromised including medical information.

The information compromised may have included, but not limited to the following: name, date of birth, address, social security number, dates of service, diagnosis information, health insurance information, medical treatment information, prescription information, provider information, and medical record numbers.
