Chord Specialty Dental Data Breach  – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is actively investigating a potential class action relating to a data breach incident involving Chord Specialty Dental Partners (“Chord Dental”). The Tennessee-based dental service organization provides business and operational support services to more than 60 dental practices in Indiana, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.  

What Happened at Chord Dental? 

In September 2024, Chord Dental discovered suspicious activity on an employee’s email account. Further internal investigation revealed that an unauthorized user had gained access to several email accounts belonging to Chord Dental employees from August 19 to September 25, 2024. 

Chord Dental recently notified the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that approximately 173,430 individuals’ protected health information has been exposed as result of the breach including, but not limited to: full names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, bank account and payment card information, as well as medical and health insurance details. 

Chord Dental sent notices to all affected individuals on March 14, 2025 to make them aware of the breach.
