Century Support Services Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating a potential class action lawsuit relating to a significant data breach at Next Level Finance Partners, which does business as Century Support Services (“Century”). Based out of North Huntingdon, PA, the debt settlement firm recently reported a major cybersecurity incident. According to a formal notice filed with the Maine Attorney General, the breach compromised the sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) of an estimated 160,759 individuals.

What Happened?

According to its public notice, Century detected unauthorized access to its computer systems on or around November 7, 2024. In response, Century engaged a third-party cybersecurity firm to investigate the scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party had gained access to the company’s network for a two-day period between July 25, 2024, and July 26, 2024, leaving the breach undetected for over three months.

What Information Was Compromised?

The investigation confirmed that the unauthorized actor accessed and acquired files containing highly sensitive personal data. The information compromised in the breach may have included, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Full Names
  • Dates of Birth
  • Social Security Numbers
  • Driver’s License and/or State Identification Numbers
  • Passport Numbers
  • Financial Account Information
  • Digital Signatures

Why Is This Important?

The exposure of this sensitive information places affected individuals at a significantly increased risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and other related harms. The compromised data, particularly Social Security numbers and financial account details, can be exploited by criminals for years to come.
