2021-2025 Hyundai & Kia Shattered Rear Window Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating a potential class action lawsuit regarding an alleged defect causing spontaneous rear window shattering in several 2021–2025 Hyundai and Kia models, including the Ioniq 5, Telluride, Seltos, K5, Tucson, and Santa Fe.

Owners report that the tempered rear glass may explode unexpectedly and without external impact. These incidents have been reported while vehicles are parked, while driving at highway speeds, or shortly after engaging the rear defroster. In many instances, the glass reportedly shatters into dangerous fragments, creating a safety hazard and leaving the vehicle interior exposed to the elements. Notably, consumer reports indicate that some owners have experienced repeated shattering incidents even after the dealership has replaced the initial glass.

Affected Vehicles May Include:

  • Hyundai Ioniq 5 (2021–2025)
  • Hyundai Tucson (2021–2025)
  • Hyundai Santa Fe (2021–2025)
  • Kia Telluride (2021–2025)
  • Kia Seltos (2021–2025)
  • Kia K5 (2021–2025)
