Wow! Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to a data breach incident involving WideOpenWest, Inc., d/b/a Wow!, an internet and television provider based out of Englewood, Colorado.
What Happened at Wow!?
According to recent reports, Arkana ransomware group has posted on the dark web claiming to have stolen sensitive personally identifying information (“PII”) belonging to an estimated 403,000 Wow! customers. PII compromised as result of Arkana’s cyberattack on Wow!’s computer systems includes, but not limited to, the following: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, credit card details, billing information, social security numbers, device/network configuration, usernames/passwords for customer accounts, and security question answers.

The data breach, if confirmed, could have severe implications for the affected users, leading to potential identity theft, financial fraud, and further cyberattacks. The hacker group’s bold move to put this data on sale goes on to show the growing menace of cybercrime and the increasing sophistication of these cyber adversaries.
