Western Digital & Seagate Hard Drive Performance– Class Action Investigation

CSK&D is investigating a potential class action case related to reports of performance issues with certain Western Digital and Seagate hard drives. Specifically, owners reported that these hard drives use outdated hard disk drive technology called Shingled Magnetic Recording (“SMR”). The performance of SMR, as opposed to newer hard drive technologies, results in slower hard drive performance. Western Digital and Seagate allegedly do not disclose in any of their marketing materials that certain hard drives sold by them contain this inferior technology.
