UPS Additional Loss and Damage Coverage Overcharging Investigation

Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who used UPS to ship a package and paid for additional loss or damage coverage.  It has been alleged that UPS has been overcharging customers for the first $100 of declared value coverage when they purchase loss or damage coverage with a declared value in excess of $300.  According to UPS’ published rates, it claims to provide $100 of free coverage for each package sent.  It has been reported, however, that UPS charges customers for the first $100 of coverage when they purchase additional coverage with a declared value in excess of $300.
