St. Joseph Health System – Unlawful Disclosure of Personal & Medical Information

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) is investigating reports that several hospitals operated by St. Joseph Health System improperly and negligently disclosed personal and medical information associated with over 30,000 California patients who received care between February and August 2011.  This personal health information may have been available on the internet during that time.  This is a possible violation of California medical privacy laws.  The personal and medical information included patient names, body mass index, blood pressure, lab results, smoking status, diagnoses, medication allergies, advance directive status and demographic information such as language, ethnicity, race, gender, and birth date.

Patients who received care at the following hospitals between February and August 2011 may be affected:

  • Petaluma Valley Hospital Auxiliary (Petaluma, CA)
  • Queen of the Valley Medical Center (Napa, CA)
  • Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital (Santa Rosa, CA)
