Sony Semi-Professional Digital Camera Corrosion Defect – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who purchased certain models of Sony semi-professional digital cameras and had them stop working within a year of ownership. Some of these individuals, after encountering this issue, reported that Sony customer service representatives refused warranty coverage since the camera’s failure is not seen as a mechanical defect, but rather something caused by the user’s own neglect. Specifically, it has been alleged that Sony blames the camera’s mechanical failure on corrosion to the camera’s internal components caused by humidity or moisture somehow getting into the camera’s internal hardware.
