Simon Eye Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating a potential data breach class action lawsuit against a Delaware-based optometry provider “Simon Eye” following recent news of an alleged data breach  involving the possible theft of sensitive information.

In a statement from Simon Eye, it discovered this data breach on June 8, 2021. They became aware through suspicious activity related to employee email accounts. On November 17, 2021 their review determined that patient information may have been impacted. 

The information potentially exposed in this data breach include: 

  • Name
  • Medical history
  • Treatment and diagnosis information
  • Health information
  • Health insurance information
  • Insurance application and/or claims information

It is reported that a certain subset of patients may also have had their social security number, date of birth, and.or financial account information exposed.
