Pennsylvania State Education Association Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to a data breach incident involving Pennsylvania State Education Association (“PSEA”), a teacher’s union for teachers in the state of Pennsylvania. The organization confirmed an estimated 517,487 individuals had their information taken in a data breach incident according to a filing with the Maine Attorney General’s office.
What Happened at PSEA?
On or around July 6, 2024, PSEA experienced a cybersecurity attack on its computer system. As result, the organization launched an internal investigation to ascertain the scope of the breach that concluded on February 18, 2025. The investigation determined that the personally identifying information (“PII”) and sensitive medical information of an estimated 500,000 individuals had their information exposed.
The PII and medical information compromised as a result of the data breach includes, but not limited to, the following: name, date of birth, driver’s license or state ID, social security number, account number, account PIN, security code, password, routing information, payment card number, payment card PIN, payment card expiration date, passport number, taxpayer ID number, Username and password, health insurance information, and medical information.
Why is it Important to you?
