Opioid Manufacturers’ Deceptive Marketing Campaigns – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of those who were prescribed opioids (painkillers such as OxyContin and Percocet).  Opioid drug manufacturers include, but are not limited to, Purdue, Janssen, Endo, Cephalon and Actavis.  It has been alleged that the opioid drug manufacturers created a marketing scheme that rationalized prescribing opioids for chronic pain instead of only promoting the prescription of opioids for non-chronic pain.  In connection with this marketing scheme, it has been alleged that the opioid drug manufacturers misrepresented the efficacy of opioids, trivialized or obscured the serious risks and adverse outcomes from opioid use(including the risk of becoming addicted to these drugs), and overstated the superiority of opioid use as compared to other pain treatment options.
