Oklahoma Veterans Home Residents Overcharges – Class Action Investigationn
C&T is investigating a potential class action on behalf of veterans residing in Oklahoma who live in veterans homes relating to reported overcharges for residential care over a period of multiple years. Recent reports indicate that for years, veterans residing in state-run veterans homes in the State of Oklahoma may have been wrongfully forced to pay more for residential living than they should have because the homes would wrongfully factor in a veteran’s assets in determining how much that veteran can afford to pay to live in a home and for long term care. While Oklahoma law allows state veteran homes to consider income, the law does not provide that assets can be considered in determining what a veteran can afford to pay for care and residency at a veterans home. Many veterans received notice of this issue when recent notices were sent to some residents informing that they could be subjected to as much as a 37 percent rate hike.
If you live and receive residential care at an Oklahoma-based state-run veterans home, or if a family member of yours who is no longer living resided in one of these homes, please contact us below.
