NorthBay Healthcare Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to a data breach incident involving Northbay Healthcare Corporation (“Northbay”, a healthcare provider based out of Solano County, CA. Northbay reported to the Maine Attorney General that personally identifying data (“PII”) belong to an estimated 569,012 individuals was compromised as result of a cyberattack.
What Happened at Northbay?
On or around February 23, 2024. Northbay discovered that an unauthorized user had gained access to data stored on its computer system.
Northbay conducted its own internal investigation to determine the scope of the potential data breach. The investigation confirmed that the cyberattack had resulted in the compromise of sensitive personally identifying information (“PII”) belonging to an estimated 569,012 individuals.
PII including sensitive health data exposed includes, but not limited to the following: names, dates of birth, addresses, social security numbers, passport numbers, medical information, biometric information, health insurance information, and driver’s license numbers.
