Nebraska Medicine Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action lawsuit relating to news that Nebraska Medicine and University of Nebraska Medical Center was the victim of a recent data breach .

Specifically, it is reported that Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center discovered an unauthorized party had gained access to its shared network between August 27, 2020 and September 20, 2020. The hackers had utilized malware to acquire patient and employee information during this time. It is estimated that the data breach affected approximately 219,000 individuals, and the breach compromised the following sensitive health-related information of these individuals: names, addresses, health insurance information, clinical information, and even the Social Security numbers of some of the impacted patients.
