Monongalia Health Systems Data Breach – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating a potential data breach class action lawsuit against Monongalia Health System Inc. following recent news of an alleged data breach  involving the possible theft of sensitive medical information. In a statement from Monongalia, it states that it discovered this data breach on December 18, 2021. Through an investigation, Monongalia discovered that an unauthorized party had gained access to its systems from December 8, 2021 to December 19, 2021. Its review determined that patient information may have been impacted.  The information potentially exposed in this data breach include:

  •         Dates of Service
  •         Provider Names
  •         Claims Information
  •         Medical and Clinical Treatment Information
  •         Status as a Current or Former Mon Health Patient
  •         Social Security Number
  •         Medicare Health Insurance Claim Number
