Moe’s Southwest Grill, McAlister’s Deli, and Schlotzsky’s Data Breach –Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (“CSK&D”) is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers affected by a recent data breach announced by Focus Brands, the company that owns Moe’s Southwest Grill, McAlister’s Deli, and Schlotzsky’s. The announcement concerning the breach states that these companies “recently detected unauthorized activity on computers involved in payment processing in some of its corporate and franchised restaurants.” The data breach, which was implemented through the use of highly technical PoS malware, reportedly occurred between April 2019 and July 2019. The breach reportedly impacts corporate and franchise locations. At this time, the companies do not know how much data was collected or what type of information may have been compromised.
CSK&D is investigating a potential lawsuit on behalf of consumers who used a debit or credit card at one or more of these restaurants during this time period.
