Mercedes-Benz Self-Driving Cars False Advertising – Class Action Investigation

C&T is investigating a potential class action against automaker Mercedes-Benz (MB) relating to advertisements for MB self-driving cars. MB recently withdrew certain advertising for 2017 E-Class vehicles after consumer and safety advocates identified the advertising as misleading in its depiction of the vehicle’s driver-assist systems. C&T is investigating whether MB’s advertisements for the 2017 E-Class vehicle regarding self-driving capabilities are deceptive because the vehicles do not meet the definition of self-driving cars. MB’s advertisements regarding self-driving capabilities in 2017 E-Class vehicles may be in violation of state and federal consumer protection laws.
