Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against MakerBot and its parent company, Stratasys, related to the “Smart Extruder” component in their fifth generation 3D Printers. The Smart Extruder is responsible for melting and dispensing the plastic filament used in the creation of 3D prints. It has been alleged that the Smart Extruder clogs easily and that approximately 80% of Smart Extruders were returned when initially shipped. When the Smart Extruder clogs, 3D printing is no longer possible and the printer becomes useless unless the extruder is repaired or replaced.
If you purchased a MakerBot 3D Printer and/or Smart Extruder and experienced clogging issues or performance problems, please use the “Email us about this Case” button to contact the attorneys below.
