Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s Return Credit Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) is investigating potential claims against Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s for refusing to refund credit cards and instead providing gift cards or store credits. Reportedly, when customers return merchandise via mail pursuant to the terms of the return policy, instead of providing a credit card refund, as required, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s will send a gift card for store credit, instead of crediting the customer’s credit card. This practice deprives customers of the use of their money, prevents customers from making purchases at other stores, and can cause customers to incur interest charges even after the merchandise has been returned.
If you were provided a gift card for the value of returned merchandise instead of a credit to your credit card from either of these retailers, please contact the attorney below to discuss your rights.
