Intcomex Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
CSK&D is investigating a potential data breach class action lawsuit relating to recent news that Intcomex, a Miami based tech company that provides technology products to companies primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean, was the victim of a ransomware attack involving a leak of nearly 1 TB worth of its users’ data.
Specifically, it is reported that Intcomex first disclosed existence of the breach on September 21, 2020, disclosing it was the victim of a cyberattack involving the compromise of sensitive data on its systems. According to some news sources, the first portion of the data was made available by hackers on an open Russian forum beginning on September 14, 2020, and more data was eventually made available on September 20, 2020. The hackers have threatened to release the rest of the stolen data over a non-specific period of time.
As a result of the breach, it is alleged that the following information of an unspecified number of individuals may have been compromised: full credit card details, social security numbers, passport and license scans, payroll information, bank documents, and more.
