Independent Living Systems Data Breach – Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action relating to news that Independent Living Systems, Inc. (“ILS”) experienced a data breach. On July 5, 2022, ILS employees discovered parts of the company’s computer systems were inaccessible. The Company investigated the matter further with the assistance of third-party security specialists. The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had accessed certain files stored on the Company’s system between June 30, 2022 and July 5, 2022. Several of these files contained confidential health information.
As result of the breach, approximately 4.2 million individuals may have had their sensitive personal and/or medical related information compromised. The information accessed in this breach may include: names, social security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, medical information, as well as health insurance information.
