HP Victus 16 and Omen 16 Gaming Laptop Hall Sensor Defect Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP is investigating potential claims on behalf of consumers who purchased certain HP Victus 16 (16-r and 16-s series) and HP Omen 16 (2023 models) gaming laptops that may suffer from a widespread design defect involving the Hall effect sensor.

Many 2023–2024 model year HP Victus 16 and Omen 16 laptops (AMD and Intel variants) reportedly experience premature failure of the Hall effect sensor due to its placement directly adjacent to the system’s heat exhausts. Consumers report that the sensors will erroneously register that the laptop lid is closed even when it is in active use. When the sensor misfires, the laptop abruptly forces itself into sleep mode and cannot be immediately powered back on. Users are forced into a frustrating cycle of waiting for the device to completely cool down before performing a hard reset, only for the issue to repeatedly occur.

If you own an affected HP Victus 16 or Omen 16 laptop and have experienced Hall sensor-related issues, please fill out the form below with details of your situation.
