Google Legacy G Suite – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating reports that Google is switching its Legacy G Suite accounts from free to paid subscriptions. The Legacy G Suite account allows Google customers to, among other things, create a custom branded email account, as opposed to one associated with a gmail.com domain. It has been reported that Google will begin automatically changing these previously free accounts into paid accounts beginning on May 1, 2022 (for those customers for whom it has billing information); other account holders will reportedly either have their account suspended or be required to upgrade to the paid account.

The applications that are in Legacy G Suite include:

  • Gmail
  • Google Drive
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Meet
  • Google Chat
