Google Legacy G Suite – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating reports that Google is switching its Legacy G Suite accounts from free to paid subscriptions. The Legacy G Suite account allows Google customers to, among other things, create a custom branded email account, as opposed to one associated with a domain. It has been reported that Google will begin automatically changing these previously free accounts into paid accounts beginning on May 1, 2022 (for those customers for whom it has billing information); other account holders will reportedly either have their account suspended or be required to upgrade to the paid account.

The applications that are in Legacy G Suite include:

  • Gmail
  • Google Drive
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Meet
  • Google Chat
