GM Ignition Recall – Class Action Lawsuit

On March 27, 2014, Chimicles & Tikellis filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of all persons in the United States who purchased one of the following GM vehicles (collectively, the “Class Vehicles”):

  • 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
  • 2005-2007 Pontiac G5
  • 2003-2007 Saturn Ion
  • 2006-2007 Chevrolet HHR
  • 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice
  • 2007 Saturn Sky

The complaint alleges the Class Vehicles suffer from a defectively designed ignition switch which is predisposed to slipping out of the “on” position while the vehicle is motion.  This presents a serious safety issue because, after the ignition slips out of the “on” position, the Class Vehicles’ power steering, power brakes, and/or air bags can be disabled.  To date, this defect has allegedly caused at least 13 deaths and 31 crashes.
