Fiat Chrysler – Emissions Cheating Investigation
Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who purchased or leased model year 2014-2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks or model year 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokees that were equipped with 3.0-liter diesel engines. On January 12, 2017, the Environmental Protection Agency accused Fiat Chrysler of using software that enabled these diesel trucks to cheat on emissions tests. The EPA has alleged that the software allowed the vehicles to emit more nitrogen oxide than is allowed under the Clean Air Act. According to the EPA, the allegations affect roughly 104,000 vehicles. It has been reported that this was brought to light after the EPA expanded its vehicle testing to look for so-called defeat devices in September 2015 following a similar scandal at Volkswagen.
