Elekta Healthcare System Data Breach  – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action lawsuit relating to news that various health systems across the country were victims of a recent data breach affecting subcontracted cloud-based storage system Elekta, a company routinely contracted by healthcare facilities to store sensitive data in a cloud-based storage system.

Specifically, it is reported that Elekta discovered an unauthorized party had gained access to its shared network between April 6, 2021- April 20, 2021. The breach impacted a number of US based healthcare systems including: Renown Health in Nevada; Yale New Haven Health; Lifespan; Southcoast Health; and the Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma.

The hackers had utilized malware to acquire patient information during this time. It is estimated that the data breach compromised the following sensitive health-related information of potentially hundreds of thousand individuals: names, addresses, health insurance information, clinical information, and even the Social Security numbers of some of the impacted patients.

If you believe that your information was compromised as a result of this breach, we would like to hear from you.
