Massive Data Breach Affecting Buca di Beppo, Earl of Sandwich, and Planet Hollywood Restaurants-Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Earl Enterprises following news that it detected a security breach in its electronic point-of-sale machines used at various restaurant locations. Earl Enterprises identified that the breach may affect transactions made by customers who visited various locations of restaurants owned by Earl Enterprises including Buca di Beppo, Earl of Sandwich, Planet Hollywood, Chicken Guy, Mixology, or Tequila Taqueria between May 23, 2018 and March 18, 2019.
According to a blog post written by cybersecurity expert Brian Krebs, the exposed information could include an estimated 2 million credit and debit card numbers that have recently be put up for sale on the dark web. Hackers can use this stolen information to create counterfeit cards to purchase high-priced items from other retailers.
