Domestic Airline Seating and Ticketing Price-Fixing/Antitrust Investigation

Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against certain major domestic airlines relating to reported practices of coordination and collusion between carriers in limiting seating availability in order to increase airfare prices. Reports indicate that certain major domestic carriers have been communicating and signaling to each other their practices for adding new flights, additional routes, and extra seating in an effort to create an overall limited accessibility to flights across the market for airfare in order to limit overall capacity and bolster airfare pricing. The Justice Department has reportedly issued subpoenas to these major airlines as part of an investigation into ‘possible unlawful coordination’ to limit capacity increases.
