District Court Grants Final Approval of Class Action Settlement Valued at Over $6.25 million in Subaru Starlink Litigation

On June 30, 2020, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey granted final approval to a class action settlement reached with Subaru related to 2017-2018 Impreza, 2018 Outback, 2018 Legacy, 2018 Crosstrek, and 2018 BRZ vehicles. The lawsuit alleged that the “Starlink” infotainment systems in these vehicles was defective resulting in wide-ranging technical and performance issues.

The settlement provides benefits for the class estimated at over $6.25 million.  This includes, among other benefits, an extended warranty covering the Starlink systems on all affected vehicles as well as the ability for class members to claim cash compensation of up to $300 if they had to have their infotainment systems repaired multiple times and/or $16/day spent without a functioning system while replacement head units were on backorder.
