Concussions in High School Athletics – Class Action Investigations

Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating potential class action lawsuits on behalf of former high school athletes who have suffered concussions.  It has been alleged that a number of state high school athletic associations have failed to properly monitor the risk of concussions, and have also failed to protect their athletes from the risk of concussions by not implementing guidelines on how to properly manage student-athlete head injuries.  Often times, high schools fail to immediately remove those with head injuries from practices and/or games.  Recent medical studies have stated that head injuries to adolescents can be the most damaging, as they happen during a critical developmental period.
