Check People Fraudulent Billing – Class Action Investigation

Check People Fraudulent Billing – Class Action Investigation

C&T is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Check People relating to reports of fraudulent and unfair billing practices. Check People operates a background service/ “people finder” through checkpeople.com and allegedly provides a trial period of use for $1.00.  According to many reports, Check People begins billing unwitting consumers sometimes before the trial period ends for upwards of $40.00.  Check People also reportedly double bills some consumers.  Many reviews indicate that the services provided by Check People are highly inaccurate and when consumers call to cancel and seek a refund, it is nearly impossible to reach a representative of the company. Consumers are reportedly forced to call their banks and file disputes or cancel cards to avoid further charges.  These practices may be in violation of state and federal consumer protection laws.
