Chantix – Class Action Investigation

Chantix – Class Action Investigation

Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith (CSK&D) is investigating a recall of the popular anti-smoking drug Chantix. Pfizer recently issued a voluntary recall of much of the national supply of the drug for high levels of the substance nitrosamine, which can increase the risk of cancer. According to the notice, the recall is for all lots of 0.5 mg and 1 mg Chantix varenicline tablets.

Although the recall notice says that long-term ingestion can lead to a “potential increased cancer risk in humans, but there is no immediate risk to patients taking this medication” and that patients should “continue taking their current medicine until their pharmacist provides a replacement or their doctor prescribes a different treatment,” the situation obviously puts consumers and patients in a difficult position. Furthermore, as a result of the recall, Chantix is currently out of stock nationwide.

If you are currently taking Chantix, or have been otherwise affected by the recall, we would like to hear from you.
