Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against JAB Holding Inc., the parent company of Caribou Coffee Company, Brueggers Bagels & Coffee and Bagel, following news that it detected a security breach in its systems at various restaurant locations. Reports indicate that at least 200 Caribou Coffee locations in Minnesota alone were targeted. The company has identified that the breach may affect transactions made by customers who visited Caribou Coffee, Brueggers Bagels, and Coffee and Bagel locations between August 28, 2018 and December 3, 2018.
The information exposed in this data breach may include customer names and credit card information (numbers, security codes). This information is stolen by criminals and put up for sale on the dark web. Hackers can use this stolen information to create counterfeit cards to purchase high-priced items from other retailers.
