Canada Goose Data Breach Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating potential class action claims against Canada Goose for a data security incident that may have impacted the personal and financial information of its US and international customers.
According to reports surfacing on or around February 16, 2026, the threat actor group ShinyHunters published a large dataset online claiming it belongs to the luxury retailer.
What Happened at Canada Goose?
Reports indicate that a dataset containing approximately 600,000 records of customer transaction information was recently published online by the threat actor ShinyHunters.
In response to these reports, Canada Goose acknowledged that a historical dataset relating to past customer transactions has been published on the dark web. However, the company has stated that they currently have no indication of any breach of their own internal systems. Canada Goose is actively reviewing the released dataset to assess its accuracy and scope.
What Information Was Compromised?
The compromised data includes sensitive personal identifiers and historical transaction details. According to preliminary reports, the following information may have been exposed:
- Name
- Postal address information (Billing and Shipping)
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Order History and Transaction Details
- Partial Credit Card Information (Masked numbers/Last 4 digits)
Why Is This Important?
The exposure of this sensitive information—particularly the combination of names, physical addresses, and detailed purchase history—places affected individuals at a significantly increased risk of phishing attacks and identity fraud.
Unlike breaches that only expose email addresses, the loss of detailed transaction history allows criminals to craft highly convincing scam emails (phishing) that appear to come from Canada Goose or delivery services. These scams can trick victims into revealing the full financial details that were not originally exposed.
