ByzFunder Data Breach Class Action Investigation
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating potential class action claims against ByzFunder NY LLC (“ByzFunder”) regarding a recent data security incident that may have impacted the personal information of 15,164 individuals.
According to a breach notification filed with the Maine Attorney General’s Office, an unauthorized user accessed or acquired files within one of ByzFunder’s cloud software solutions that contained personally identifiable information.
What Happened at ByzFunder?
Between September 1, 2025, and September 20, 2025, an unauthorized actor accessed or acquired files within one of ByzFunder’s software solutions. After detecting this suspicious activity on September 19, 2025, ByzFunder worked with cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident and review the affected files. On or about November 12, 2025, Byzfunder learned that individuals’ personal information was contained in the files. On November 19, 2025, ByzFunder began to notify affected individuals.
What Information Was Compromised?
The compromised data may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Full names
- Social Security numbers
Why Is This Important?
The exposure of this highly sensitive information places affected individuals at a significantly increased risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and other related harms. The theft of Social Security numbers is particularly severe, as this data can be exploited by criminals for years to come.
