Avalon at Edgewater Apartment Fire – Class Action Lawsuit
On January 26, 2015, Chimicles & Tikellis filed a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of individuals who were displaced by the fire at the Avalon at Edgewater apartment complex in Edgewater, New Jersey. It has been alleged that hundreds of people were displaced as a result of the January 21 fire and that many lost their homes, vehicles, or other personal property. As a result of the displacement, many have incurred out-of-pocket costs, such as paying for hotel rooms or rental vehicles.
On March 17, 2015, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey issued an order that consolidated the three Avalon fire cases pending in federal court, and appointed Chimicles & Tikellis and two other law firms to the position of interim co-lead counsel for the putative class.
