2019-2023 Audi Alternator Failure – Potential Class Action Investigation

2019-2023 Audi “Drive System Malfunction”- Potential Class Action Investigation

The law firm of Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of owners and lessees of 2019-2023 model year Audi Q8, Q7, A6, A7, and A8 vehicles, among other models around the same range of years. It has been reported that these vehicles equipped with a mild-hybrid electrical system contain a design defect that causes it to display the following error messages: “Drive System: malfunction! Please contact Service,” and/or “electrical system failure.”  These warning messages, which will display when the vehicle is in motion, causes it to enter into a limp mode whereby the operator is cautioned not to have the engine exceed 2,500 RPM. This sudden inability to accelerate may create an unreasonable safety situation for the operator as well as for others on the road. The cause of the defect is purportedly related to the alternator, a part that is on a national backorder.
