Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who purchased 2011 MacBook Pro computers. It has been alleged that an internal hardware defect related to the graphics processing unit (“GPU”) causes onscreen artifacts to display, banding, or a blank screen. It has been further alleged that graphics-intensive operations (such as watching HD videos) cause the defect to manifest. Finally, it has been alleged that Apple has declined to repair or remedy the problem – which often involves repairing the graphics chip, which is soldered onto the motherboard.
