Consumer Protection

All states have some form of law that applies to consumer transactions and that seeks to prevent consumer deception and abuse. Depending on the state, these types of laws are known by various names such as "consumer protection" laws, "consumer fraud" acts, or "unfair trade practices" acts.  Generally, these laws prohibit conduct that misleads consumers. Many of these laws cover not only transactions involving standard "goods and services" but also transactions involving investments, insurance, loans and other types of transactions. C&T lawyers handle numerous cases involving wrongful conduct against consumers where such conduct involves a large class of consumers.
