Investigation Chimicles & Tikellis is investigating a proposed class action lawsuit on behalf of WellPoint customers who had their health insurance policies involuntarily canceled when they were diagnosed with breast cancer and other serious health problems. WellPoint may have been using a computer algorithm that automatically targeted policyholders recently diagnosed with serious health issues including breast cancer. According to government regulators and investigators, this software may have triggered an immediate fraud investigation, as WellPoint searched for some pretext to drop their policies. Once women with breast cancer and other individuals with serious health issues were singled out through the software, it is believed that the insurer then canceled their policies based on either erroneous or flimsy information.
